Hi, I'm Lauren—founder, candle-maker, and mom behind Henry's House.

I grew up in the 90s in a home that always smelled amazing. My mom kept Yankee Candles burning year-round—Macintosh Apple in fall, Balsam & Cedar at Christmas, Clean Cotton in spring. The house was warm, cozy, and filled with Longaberger baskets on every shelf. Those scents and that feeling of home are etched in my heart.

As an adult, I chased that same comfort... but something had changed. The brick-and-mortar Yankee Candle stores I loved walking into were disappearing. The candles on the shelves felt different—less rich, less clean-burning, and honestly, a little cheap. I tried everything from big-box brands to Etsy makers, but nothing quite captured that nostalgic, elegant home glow I remembered. The homemade ones were often too "crafty"—cute jars and labels, but the scents and quality just didn't feel sophisticated enough for my space.

So, I started experimenting in my own kitchen. I researched clean, non-toxic ingredients, tested waxes and wicks obsessively, and roped my friends and neighbors into honest feedback sessions. What began as a personal quest turned into something bigger when I was pregnant with my son, Henry.

I wanted our home to feel safe, warm, and truly special for his arrival. Nothing store-bought felt good enough—no harsh chemicals, no weak throws, no outdated packaging. I poured candle after candle, perfecting scents that felt timeless and inviting. This hobby quickly became a passion, and Henry's House was born—named, of course, after the little boy who inspired it all.

Why the men's names for our candles? I wanted each scent to tell a story—to evoke a feeling, a moment in time, or the essence of someone who left a mark on the world. Wilder, Kennedy, Lennon, Chaplin, Roosevelt... these names carry strength, creativity, warmth, and history. Paired with thoughtfully crafted fragrances (like rich santal for grounding comfort or crisp bergamot for bright elegance), they go beyond "just a candle." They're conversation starters. Little pieces of inspiration you light in your home. We stepped away from the mass-market feel of big candle brands, but we never lost that classic, homey heart—the one I grew up with in the 90s. Henry's House is about bringing back that true sense of sanctuary: clean-burning luxury that smells incredible, looks refined, and makes any house feel like the warmest, most welcoming home.
